STAINLESS-310 STEEL ALLOY, UNS S31000

We offer a range of thicknesses of sheet and plate (1.5mm to 12mm) and a range of diameters of bar & pipe.

About Stainless Steel 310

Stainless Steel 310 is an austenitic steel developed for use in high temperature corrosion resistant applications. The steel resists oxidation up to 1100°C (2010°F) under mildly cyclic conditions. Because of its ratio of Chrome to Nickel content, this alloy is resistant to sulphidation and can also be used in moderately carburising atmospheres.

Key Properties of Stainless Steel 310

Even under mildly cyclic environments, it resists oxidation up to 1100°C (2010°F). Due to the 310s high chromium and moderate nickel content, it offers good resistance to sulphidation and can be used in moderately carburising atmospheres.

Unlike the more severe carburising atmospheres which usually require Nickel as part of the process; it can be used in slightly oxidising, nitriding, cementing and thermal cycling applications, however the maximum service temperature must be reduced.

It also finds usage in cryogenic applications with low magnetic permeability and toughness down to -268°C (-450°F). Plus when heated between 650 – 950°C (1202 – 1742°F) is subject to sigma phase precipitation. Therefore a solution annealing treatment at 1100 – 1150°C (2012 – 2102°F) will be needed to restore a good degree of toughness.

The alloy can also be easily welded and processed by standard shop fabrication practices.
