Atomised Ferro Silicon In Industry
Atomised Ferro Silicon 15% is utilised in Heavy Media Separation in the scrap processing and mining industries. Heavy media separation is also known as ‘Dense Media Separation’ and is a gravity separation process achieved by altering the density of the medium.
Westbrook's Atomised Ferro Silicon 45% is mainly used as a coating in welding electrode production. In addition, Westbrook Resources also produces Milled Ferro Silicon and offer a range of Silicon Alloys, such as Ferro Silicon, Ferro Silicon Zirconium, Ferro Silicon Magnesium and Silicon Carbide.

Why Choose Westbrook Resources For Atomised Ferro Silicon
In addition to the sphericity of our 15% Atomised Ferro Silicon, it has also been proven to have greater corrosion resistance, greater viscosity control and is more stable/recoverable making it easier to achieve density than most after water atomised materials.
Westbrook Resources has storage facilities in the United Kingdom, South Africa, Europe and North America, which makes it perfectly situated for the distribution of Atomised Ferro Silicon across the globe. Consignment stocks may also be an option depending on location and credit.
Westbrook Resources are ISO 9001 compliant, Authorised Economic Operator accredited, hold REACH registrations for Ferro Silicon both in the UK and the EU and a Turkish KKDIK pre-registration for Ferro Silicon. We have fiscal representation in several countries to facilitate deliveries direct to your plant.

How does Atomised Ferro Silicon 45% differ to that of Milled Passivated Ferro Silicon 45% when used as a welding electrode coating ?
Milled material is produced in an induction furnace, then crushed and ball milled and then coated in a stabilising agent. Atomised material is made by melting Ferro Silicon 75% with steel scrap and pouring the stream of liquid metal into high pressure water jets. This process creates relatively spherical particles that flow and coat with almost liquid like properties, unlike Milled material. In Atomised material, the material is naturally stabilised through the atomising process and there is more uniformity in the chemistry and generally less than 10 micron material.
Note that standard Milled Gas Evolution testing does not apply due to the Atomised material being naturally stabilised though its own process. Therefore a different test applies. It is significantly more uniform and stable.
